The YMCA of Los Angeles is celebrating a major milestone as they mark 20 years of their Play program at LA County schools. The program focuses on providing children with opportunities for physical activity and play during the school day.

Since its inception, the Play program has served over 100,000 students across 27 schools in the county. The program aims to promote healthy lifestyles and teach children the importance of staying active.

“We are incredibly proud of the impact the Play program has had on students over the past two decades,” said John Rizzo, President and CEO of the YMCA of Los Angeles. “By encouraging children to be active and play, we are helping to instill lifelong habits that will benefit them for years to come.”

The Play program includes various activities such as sports, games, and creative play to engage children in physical activity. In addition to promoting physical health, the program also focuses on social and emotional well-being by fostering teamwork and cooperation among students.

As the YMCA of Los Angeles celebrates this milestone, they are looking forward to continuing to expand the Play program to reach even more students in the future. With childhood obesity rates on the rise, programs like Play are more important than ever in promoting healthy lifestyles among youth.
